About SquirrelCache

SquirrelCache is a photo backup utility for iPhone built on a single principle: your photos belong to you, not to a server. Unlike cloud-first backup services, SquirrelCache performs all operations entirely on-device — no uploads, no analytics, no account required.

Users can export their photo library by date range, or hand-pick specific photos using iOS's native photo picker. Exports can be saved to any local or connected folder, shared directly via AirDrop or email, compressed into ZIP archives, and documented with automatically-generated CSV logs that include EXIF metadata for every file.

SquirrelCache is designed for photographers, content creators, and anyone who wants reliable, organized, local control over their photo archive — without locking their memories into a subscription service or a proprietary ecosystem.

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

SquirrelCache gives you precise, flexible control over your photo library — with full transparency about what happens to your data.

Flexible Filtering

Export by custom date range, or hand-pick exactly the photos and videos you want. Switch modes with a single tap.

Smart File Naming

Automatically embed EXIF metadata in filenames — date taken, camera model, ISO, aperture, focal length, shutter speed, and more.

Live Photo Support

Exports Live Photo pairs with Apple's standard metadata so the image and video stay properly linked after export.

Share Sheet

Skip saving to a folder and share exports directly via AirDrop, email, Messages, iCloud Drive, or any app that accepts files.

ZIP & CSV Export

Package your exports into a single ZIP archive and generate a detailed CSV log with EXIF data for every file.

Total Privacy

All processing happens entirely on your device. Zero analytics. Zero data collection.

Export History

Every backup is logged with full stats — item counts, total size, duration, destination path, and success status.

Photo Library Access

SquirrelCache requests read access to your photo library solely to let you select and export your own photos. Access is only requested on first launch and only with your permission.

Local Storage Only

All settings, export history, and backup records are stored locally on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Nothing leaves your phone.

Simple by design.

SquirrelCache is built around a clean, focused workflow. Three steps from launch to backed-up.

1
Grant photo library access
A one-time permission prompt on first launch. SquirrelCache explains exactly why access is needed and what it will and won't do with it.
2
Choose your photos
Set a date range to export everything in a time window, or switch to Photo Picker mode to manually select exactly what you want.
3
Export and you're done
Save to any folder, send via AirDrop, share via email — in any format. ZIP archive, individual files, CSV log. Your choice.
